Environmental Social Governance (ESG)

Our aim is to execute the highest global standards, ensuring ESG values are at the forefront of every country we operate in.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Recycle it Global’s existence is part of a bigger system of people, communities, values, organisations, and nature. The responsibility of our business it to give back to the world, just as it gives to us.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

UN SDG Goal 14 aims to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development. RIG Plymouth will contribute to the successful achievement of this goal by recycling marine dredging’s preventing it from being disposed of at sea.

LEADING THE BUILD FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Recycle it Global ltd (RIG) is an innovative engineering company, driving technological advancements in solid and fluid waste sectors.

We are focused on significantly reducing the quantity of waste materials that are destined for landfill and mine waste facilities across the globe by providing a service that allows the Construction, Demolition, Mining, and Marine Dredging sectors a sustainable way to dispose of waste, and then processing that waste into recycled aggregates through our state of the art wash plant facilities.

THE MISSION

To Design, Build, Commission and Operate a world class, Multi–Modal Port facility in the heart of Plymouth, Britains Ocean City. Our facility will be the first of its kind globally to address the environmental impacts of Marine Dredging, Water Contamination, and Ocean Acidification. Our aim is to become a world leader in Marine Dredging, Water & Solid Waste Management.

This facility falls within one of Britains eight freeport zones and will bring job creation, economic growth, supply chain enhancement, skills development, regeneration of underutilised areas, increased exports, interest from international businesses and a rise in further environmental and innovation initiatives opportunities.

Tonnes Per Hour - RIG Scorrier

RIG Plymouth will recycle dredged material, preventing it from being disposed of at sea.

CO2 Saving - RIG Scorrier

RIG Plymouth aims to accept up to 400,000m3 of marine sediment per year.

Water Reduction - RIG Scorrier

RIG Plymouth aims to reduce environmental impacts of sediment disposal and protect marine ecosystems.

  • 90% of dredged material is made up of sediments that can contain contaminants like heavy metals and toxic chemicals, which can be released into the water during dredging. 90% 90%
  • Marine dredging can impact up to 40% of marine habitats in affected areas, leading to reduced biodiversity and affecting species populations, including fish, shellfish, and other marine organisms. 40% 40%
  • About 35-40% of dredging operations in ports face issues related to silt management. 35% 35%
  • 20-30% of dredged material is considered waste and must be disposed of in a regulated manner. 20% 20%

THE CHALLENGE EXPLAINED.

Marine dredging involves the excavation of materials from the seabed, typically for purposes like deepening harbours, creating shipping channels, and sourcing sand for construction. While it plays a critical role in supporting maritime infrastructure and economic activity, it can at time pose several environmental challenges:

Habitat Destruction: Disrupts marine ecosystems and harms seabed life.

Sediment Plumes: Reduces water clarity, affecting photosynthesis and marine life.

Pollution: Releases toxins from contaminated sediments into the water.

Waste Disposal: Dredged material often lacks safe disposal, causing further harm.

Coastal Erosion: Increases erosion, threatening natural barriers.

Carbon Emissions: Dredging contributes to climate change.

%

Within dredging, the oil and gas sector accounts for around 30% of the market, while construction and land reclamation hold around 50%.

RIG Plymouth's Solution

We aim to provide solutions to problems surrounding marine dredging practices, RIG engineers and scientists are already researching the development, construction and commissioning works at Pomphlett Jetty with a view to the facility accepting up to 400,000 m3 of marine dredgings a year.

WHAT IS MARINE DREDGING?

Dredging is essential for ensuring the dockyard remains operational, as the estuary is regularly dredged to maintain adequate water depths for vessels. Initially, the waterways were shaped through capital dredging, which is now only required for new projects or expansions. Ongoing maintenance dredging is now the primary method used to preserve these waterways.

WHAT IS A MULTI-MODAL PORT FACILITY?

An import and export hub that integrates various methods of material processing and handling via road & sea. This type of facility is designed to enhance the efficiency of cargo handling, reduce transportation costs, and improve environmental sustainability. A multi-modal port facility enables faster and more flexible delivery, optimises logistics, and supports international trade.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR PLYMOUTH?
